Sakamoto continued to be creatively active after this diagnosis and died a month or so ago. Quote from Guardian obit:

"In 2014 he was diagnosed with throat cancer, but by the following year was feeling “much much better”. His recovery from illness inspired the creation of his album Async, hailed as one of 2017’s finest forays into experimental electronica. Its making was documented by Stephen Nomura Schible in the film Coda (2018).
His final album, 12, was recorded during hospital stays in 2021 and 2022, and released in January. In December, he livestreamed a solo piano concert from Tokyo."

Not knowing his music, I remedied this with a Brilliant Classics piano collection, being prompted by good reviews and a well-priced download at Presto. Very enjoyable performances from the admirable and indefatigable Jeroen van Veen.

Sakamoto's funeral playlist is worth checking out on Spotify.

The Presto prices for this set are far, far more attractive than those cited by QOBUZ.
