JAZZ VS OPERA - A TRUE BATTLE OF THE TENORS starring HAKON KORNSTAD

" A true rebel is blind to genres. Håkon had an international career as a jazz saxophonist. Then he discovered that he had a voice. Three years later he is now juggling his jazz musicianship with an upcoming operatic career. ''

Not quite such a dramatic career change as Peter Hoffman, who was an athlete before he became a singer.

Fritz Wunderlich was a bass player before turning to singing, did he play jazz?

Met doesn't seem to have the same effect on R3's jazz listeners ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Too right, FF - two 90 minute JLUs in a row - must be time for another break!

Good for him to try something new and good luck, but who is the audience here? He seems to hit all the right buttons to make (gentle) fun of ‘free jazz’. He also makes his discoveries about various things in classical music quite endearing. And is this what free jazz has become? It sounds awfully nice and pretty.
