What a wonderfully energetic way to start the weekend. The leader earned his money.

      Agreed JimD!

We enjoyed that performance, and so did they. A wonderful ensemble to watch - individually and together.

        I'm with you guys.
The bassoon player isn't credited though, which is a shame.

Many thanks, Jim - I'd completely forgotten - I blame Georgia Mann!

Bracing stuff - but Edgey's right: who's the Bassoonist? I think we should be told!

I enjoy watching the edgy male cellist.

Harpsichord Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056

A OVpP performance - just a String Quintet with the soloist; and how marvellous this sounds! Siebe Henstra is the soloist in this ten-minute work, recorded in the Amsterdam Muziekgebeouw in February of last year.

Surprisingly full sound. Was the double bass essential? With a harpsichord?

I would have thought so, Padraig - but the only real way of knowing would be to hear a Quartet performance.

Just caught up with this one and he is credited now: the 'resident' bassoonist Benny Aghassi.

It's a shame the sound was faded out so rapidly after the music finished. They don't usually do this and often fade on the applause so I wonder if there was some problem that a quick fade covered - or maybe a different editor!

                        YES! Astonishingly abrupt, isn't it!

                              - it hadn't appeared yet when I looked earlier.

Just under two hours - looks like my Passiontide/Easter listening is starting a couple of days early this year!

Just finished listening to St John Passion. Leaving aside any emotional response, it was a pleasure to view these performers interpreting this music and these words.
