Something for a Friday: All of Bach

Rob, since you have remembered my erstwhile association with Bach Fridays - I still click on it, but for whatever technical reason, I cannot get a response for large scale items. That has quite put me off as they are what I enjoy most. I can still have the organ pieces of which I'm not a great fan, and the other keyboard works which I prefer on piano, so I have not been contributing to the thread since the technology let me down.
I have a large collection of Bach works, which is the source of much of my private listening anyway, but I do miss the Friday treat and, of course, the singers and players, some of whom I was getting to know.

I think we might already have gone through the possible solutions I can think of (go to the All of Bach Website itself, rather than just using the links from here - try a different computer - erm ... I think that's "all"). Really sorry I can't help.Numquam Satis!

However, I now have a good reason to play one of my own versions - the one in a box of three LPs, the one with The Last Supper by Albrecht Durer on the lid, which I bought in'59 or '60. It has Schwarzkopf, the Society of the Friends of Music and Karajan. I shall be playing the 2 CD set which I acquired in 2005, and because it was my first I have very special memories of playing it constantly all those years ago.Last edited by Padraig; 10-06-17, 19:27.

Home alone for a big chunk of tomorrow so I will listen then.
Thanks ferney

So grateful to have access to this."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's a wonderful resource, isn't it! I am so grateful to Hitch for bringing it to the Forum - I wouldn't've known about it otherwise - and I hope that his withdrawal from the Forum in the past six months or so is a result of good friends, food, and fun, and that he will post again as soon as all the excitement allows him time.Numquam Satis!

Chorale Prelude on "Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr", BWV715
"Only God on High is Lord": a brief (2mins) flourish - played not merely with aplomb, but with several plombs by Bart Jacobs on the organ of the Great Church of St Bavo in Haarlem.
