Colin Davis In His Own Words

In case anyone missed it when first aired, or would like to see it again, this was repeated on BBC4 on Fri 11 April and is therefore back up on the iPlayer for a few days. A wonderful illustrated interview with a much-missed, wise and humane musician.

It's available until 20:55 on Good Friday 18 April.

Portrait of the late conductor Sir Colin Davis, which reveals a reluctant maestro.

Hard to believe that he died a year ago - he seems still to be a benificent presence in my life through my memories of his music-making both on disc and 'live', and long may this continue.

I wonder what those word were? ("watch the beat I dare say") Hardly original or inspirational.
