Damned predictive text. The thread title should not read "dawned".

      Where should I start ?

      Damned text......... full stop !

Jesu, Maria - I am near to death,
And Thou art calling me; I know it now.
Not by the token of this faltering breath,
This chill at heart, this dampness on my brow
Maybe as spoken by the great Basil Brush ?

      Boom Boom

But to make out that somehow this doggerel is anything else ?
I'm sure at the time it worked
but like Mud's Tiger Feet it really doesn't stand the test of time

It's a kind of Stairway to Heaven for the anglo-catholics

I have to say that I'm a bit puzzled by this. If one doesn't like, respond to or simply understand the work then don't listen to it. No one's forcing you...

TBF, Tiger Feet didn't stand the test of time even at the time.

BUT did you try Spike Milligan's tip:

                        I always eat my peas with honey;
I've done it all my life.
They do taste kind of funny
but It keeps them on my knife.

catchy to be sure, and easy to hammer out on the school piano !! I do remember one night when I was 10 listening to Radio Luxembourgs new top 40, and hoping very much that Slade or T rex or whoever would be No 1, and was utterly appalled to discover that Lt Pigeon were that week's chart toppers.

Actually I think it's great and it's on my CD for the car compilation.

I got this far into the thread before I realised what its subject was. I don't recall ever hearing it though.
