According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Nicholas Hytner will be free soon, I think, as he leaves the NT - not someone with a background in classical music though he has directed quite a few operas. I think he would do a lot for drama, for involvement with live performance, having broadcast partnerships with major arts organisations (as Hall seems to want the BBC to do) and he would be opposed to patronising the audience. So almost certainly no chance for him

"The BBC is to feature more arts stories in programmes like The One Show in a bid to make the subject less elitist."

Or, in other words, to stop marginalising it by placing it in ghettoes away from the popular services.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Serious suggestion (evolution, not demolition): Ruth Mackenzie.

nor me since i never felt Mr Brotzmann was a 'good thing' and that one could very easily have too much of the thing it was [easily under 4' 33"]

                      on the other hand:

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Well, ff / SS, you’ve done it. You’ve kicked him out. Well done ().

Seriously, once the vice is removed, the blind opened, and the air let in, I hope everyone (or most people) at Radio3 will remember what they are there for.

Although Scottish Opera's programming was great under her management, she wasn't terribly good at getting the cash to support it.

(replying to Hidden Guest's post about Ruth McKenzie)

                            or even better

Actually, I think much of the vitriol directed at RW is misplaced.

agreed MrGongGong but some of it is not; he screwed jazz, 'live', and put 'chat' on air .... and does any one listen to Free Thinking and find it rewarding?
