The Christmas Oratorio isn't strictly an oratorio, but 6 individual cantatas for performance over 6 days.

Mrs. PG bought me the Gardiner set for Christmas and I'm ashamed to say they are still wrapped in plastic...

I'm working my way through this. The more I hear, the greater it becomes.

Although I only have a handful, I try to play them on the day for which they were composed, which places them in context even though I am not a Lutheran and only an occasional churchgoer. Unfortunately my CD of the Kaffee-Kantate seems to have disappeared (the Rilling version).
