    Top Ten Wacky Opera Clips

Watching this clip from Artaserse last night has inspired me to ask for your suggestions for outlandish operas or productions. You must include video clips please.

    Here are my suggestions:

(We can only include one video per post)

Bryn, there's nothing one can possibly say about that other than !!

I should add that one of our friends here has kindly pointed out that the production of Artaserse has just been released on DVD

I have found this which links Artaserse (note the hair style) with Hoffman and your galant Indes: Patricia Petibon (shame about the sound quality).

              Pacta sunt servanda !!!

Another Patricia Petibon:from Platée (not an opera clip but from a concert)
The mischievous Patricia sings the folly theme during the Astree concert conducted by Emmanuelle Haim. theatre des Champs-Elysees - 2011

Sound quality is extremely poor (sorry about this). Turn the volume up.

Incidentally, the subject of this week’s Early Music Show is Platée

[ed.] I know we are allowed only one per post and this is not a clip (the entire opera) but…Good grief (I only watched the first few minutes, not been able to make up my mind)
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Rameau: Les Indes Galantes, opéra-ballet | Les Talens Lyriques, Christophe Rousset

The performance at Barbican seems to have been less wacky.

                  (Sorry, Flay)

Stockhausen was known to have the occasional Wacky moment:

                    Bullfight from Mittwoch aus Licht.

But this may be more appropriate:

Note: for the first 30 seconds , there is no imagethe video began filming about 1/2 way through the show.Stimmung By Karlheinz Stockhausen, "Montreal Version...
