I am listening to Soft Machine 6 (first to hand) with a cup of tea. What is marijuana circa like?

Here's what I came up with in 5 minutes today pretty much talking western rock and pop - didn't count Joni or Laura Nyro ( I could have filled the list with them, but I never think rock there, and I didn't bother with Bob either, not even Highway 61!)

We're only in it for the money - Mothers of Invention
        Arthur - Kinks
        Holland - Beach Boys
        the eponymous Chicago Transit Authority
Exile on Cold Harbour Lane - Alabama 3
        Electric Ladyland -Hendrix
Bat Chain Puller - The Captain
Paradise and Lunch - Ry Cooder
        Sandinista - Clash
        Colosseum Live
        Unhalfbricking - Fairport

If I'm honest, most of my perception is based on that first album.

Yes, but I said most of my perception.

                        Can't believe I didn't include Emerson,Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery.
I'll bring it off the bench for Hotel California.

My first rock LP was "The Rolling Stones" - 1964 (I was 15 and it's still a favourite). I think I gave up on proper rock around 1969 and some of my top ten selection below are probably not really "rock" at all.

Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
Johnny Cash - American III: Solitary Man
                              Lucinda Williams - Essence
Pogues - If I Should Fall from Grace with God
                              Randy Newman- Bad Love
                              Beatles - White Album
                              Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
                              Van Morrison - Moondance
Richard Thompson & Linda Thompson - I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight
