Pre-empting his Prom performances - I see the download is considerably cheaper than the CD set.

Another fairly new release is the Ravel Edition - a 14 CD box set, which am.it have for under 40 Euros - http://www.amazon.it/Ravel-Complete-...0037405&sr=1-5

The price of the CDs isn't a deal breaker though. I suspect that the performances are sufficently good that the CD set will be worthwhile.

I initially passed on this, thinking it mere reissue... in fact, the magic word "remastering" appears on the back. Quite enough to induce me to buy them again, given the Olympias weren't the greatest sonically.

So - four of the most memorable & striking creations of Giya Kancheli, in the best and most idiomatic of performances. (The symphonies here are mostly preferable to the later Tbilisi Beaux recordings - those often several minutes longer, sacrificing tension to textural inspection...)
