It looks, too, as if the Fifth Symphony is on its own on disc 4, which is a bit mean: no recordings of any other works by "Ralf" they could have filled it with? And £33 is a bit too much for me with so many unknown factors involved - but I confess; I'm intrigued!

If, and hopefully, when he price drops - fairly dramatically - and a bit more becomes known about it, I might well be interested, but as a purely speculative buy (at this stage, at least) - No! It ain't Naxos, after all!!!!

For release on Monday, a live Prom performance of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis from September 10 1982. I was present at this performance and met Solti and all of the soloists after the concert and all signed my programme. I've been waiting for nearly 32 years to hears this wonderful performance again at what was a memorable and eventful day for me. Very many thanks go to Laurie Watt of this Parish whose recording has been used for the release. Lady Solti was keen for this performance to be released and grateful thanks to her too.
Of all the live performances I've attended in 42 years concert-going, this was the one I wanted to see as a CD issue more than any other."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Amazon France comes in at £29.81 delivered using Amazon's currency converter (their delivery charge is just €3.85).

On Usenet's rec.music.classical.recordings, Christopher Webber writes:
They've been lurking around sub-rosa for some while, but this is the
1988-9 Moscow cycle's first official appearance on disc. The orchestral
playing reveals much that we don't usually hear (and the occasional
thing we wouldn't want to hear again!) and in general the
interpretations emphasise RVW's closeness to his teacher (or "French
polisher", as he put it) Ravel, to an intriguing degree.
Worth remembering that the 'Sea Symphony' pre-dates 'Daphnis and Chloe',
and that Ravel was a huge admirer of his mature pupil's work.
