I'm not sure how attractive this one is at the price - though I really like some of Kubelik's Mahler performances.

I do find the largest boxed sets quite hard to navigate as downloads - to mitigate this one has to spend time editing the metadata and track titles

I make no apology whatsoever for recommending this nearly new and almost bargain-priced release.
Wiener et Doucet
Rather than part Dave Brubeck part Liberace as described in the review, they seem to me to be part Billy Mayerl part Raie da Costa, with a soupcon of Chabrier.
Jean Wiener had a long and illustrious career, Clement Doucet's rather shorter, sadly.

Each track for audition on qobuz
Excellent booklet, too, by the way (in French only)......
And Raie da Costa appears next month on the last of the Pupils of Tobias Matthay series on apr - she recorded barely a handful of serious works, the Liszt shows I think what we missed.Last edited by PJPJ; 24-05-14, 11:18.
