Decca is due to release Chailly's new Brahms Symphony cycle (with the Leipzig Gewandhaus) on 7 October. His previous cycle was notable mainly for a very decent version of the second (a one-time BaL winner overlooked in the most recent survey), but the rest was less successful. Still, I'm optimistic about this new set from the snippets I've heard. Looks reasonably priced at the grocer too.

Good to see that George Szell's Beethoven symphony cycle is soon to appear as a Sony boxed set. I've been waiting for this never having heard them before.
And still they come: a brand new Beethoven symphony cycle from Mariss Jansons and the BRSO interestingly coupled with some modern pieces.

The Dvorak is amongst my 10 favourite cello concertos of all times, I like listening to Rostropovich recording on LP and JLW's on CD, best versions so far! A credit to Italian cellist Mario Brunello's version, which I heard recently on the radio.

There are precious few recordings of Moeran's beautifull Violin Concerto, so this impending Chandos release with Tasmin Little / Andrew Davis is something to look forward to imv.
Tasmin Little: The Lark Ascending. Chandos: CHAN10796. Buy CD or download online. Tasmin Little (violin) BBC Philharmonic, Sir Andrew Davis
It will be interesting to see how this compares with the excellent Georgiadis / Handley recording on Lyrita, as well as the historic recordings of Sammons and Campoli with Boult.
More information from Chandos here, including details of some appetising couplings from Delius and Holst, some apparently new arrangements of familiar Elgar and another ( Little / Davis ) recording of the ubiquitous Lark.
