Over on the "What are you Practising/Composing" thread I've been banging on about this work in progress for a few weeks now, and it's no longer in progress. For those who haven't seen the other thread: this is an album consisting of five new electronic compositions, each of which is based on an improvisational solo specially recorded by one of five instrumentalists: Daryl Buckley (electric lap steel guitar), Ivana Grahovac (cello), Lori Freedman (bass clarinet), Anne La Berge (flute) and Lê Quan Ninh (percussion). Released a few minutes ago on the STRANGE STRINGS label. I hope some of you will listen and enjoy.

This is due out soon...I already have these marvellous works in much-loved vintage recordings by Hogwood and Koopman, but it will be good to hear a young, fresh take on them.

Not to mention Leonhardt and Café Zimmermann and Pinnock... but I will also be listening to this one as soon as it (as the young people say, I believe) drops.

Just having a listen to Daniel Bjarnason’s Violin Concerto, from the album Occurrence with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
I was at the premiere at the RFH in 2017, and it was a really enjoyable event, performed with superb showmanship ( in the best way) so it will be interesting to see how it stands up on a recording.

What a lovely surprise to hear that there is to be a FIFTH disc of Vivaldi Bassoon Concertos from the fantastic Sergio Azzolini - due out next month!

Well, those CPE Bach and Weber CDs are both very fine.

No, I’m revelling in the new Faust/ Queyras/Melnikov / Freiburg Baroque LVB Triple Concerto. Which starts off in exhilarating fashion, it must be said.......

Ah, that's a new one to me...and I am a great fan of these artists in the French repertoire that they have already released.
