The price is ludicrous, although German Amazon, with the current exchange rate, is a bit cheaper.

So what's the party line on re-mastered Solti?
How could I resist, compared to the £14.96 I paid for the standard CD issues (via Oxfam and minus the booklets/libretti)?

Ah, the bucket of cold water over the head - thanks, Bryn, just what the doctor ordered. £15 seems like a good deal - multiplied by 10 (and a bit) the price does seem lunatic.

I'm hoping that the inclusion of John Culshaw's book 'Ring Resounding' will result in a mass release of cheap second-hand copies on to the market

Pressures of time and the Trials of Life have limited my postings beyond the Proms themselves, but after the Saariaho last week, recalling earlier more pleasurable encounters but finding little of her on my shelves, I roamed the web reading her notes on Chester Novello and listening to many excerpts.... stumbled across the 2/2012 release (a chronological retrospective) of a 4-disc Ondine Box of her Orchestral Works... and been thrilling to them all week!

CAN'T recommend it highly enough... even lovely at bedtime and getting-up time, on the bedside Tivoli system...
ALL truly compelling, especially taken with Lichtbogen, Solar and Graal Theatre...

(ONDINE 1113-2Q) ...Presto have Ondine on offer just now...

Thanks for the recommendation. Presto also offer lossless FLAC downloads, but there's no mention of whether or not a digital booklet is included. Anyone know one way or the other?

Just looked on "THE Classical Shop" - no booklet with Ondine.

I've given plenty of feedback to them its pointless running a 50% discount offer on downloads, for unfamiliar performers or repertoire where the booklet is not provided. ANswer is that its up to the company - Ondine to provide them, the site operator wants them to.

I'm keeping a list of potential downloads I considered no further on this basis. I'll stop now, I could go on about it .......

I sent off an email to Presto and got an almost immediate reply confirming what you say — Ondine didn't provide a booklet to them. Strangely, though, the booklet is part of the download with Qobuz. I'll get it there.

One of my favourite tuba players, Joe Cook(principal tuba Black Dyke Band), has recorded a solo cd with afaoresaid bad. Looks really tempting!

Any ideas on what this Ormandy box might contain and whether it's worth buying? I was very pleased with the Stoki box from this series

Looks an interesting box but which recordings are they - now Sony effectively merges the CBS,later Sony and RCA catalogues identification is a problem.

Slightly dissapointed with the contents. Was hoping for Rach symphonies, Sibelius and his famous Mahler 2 (currently £40 for a second hand copy on Marketplace) or perhaps Mahler 10

Not sure about that. Some good things in there though. I have/had some of those on LP, but I've already managed to get some of my favourites on CD. Who is the soloist in the Rachmaninov piano concerto? Ormandy recorded that with several great pianists.
