Just played the finale of No.1.....wow! Such energy and attack, such fortepianistic*** elegance... Seem to be heading for a Beethoven weekend....
The Brautigam/Parrott long my favourite set, finally has a successor...

Hey give us a break...... only discovered these at about 0300, got to bed around 0500 after listening to that glorious Berlioz...! Yet another Record of the Year....(still stunned by Virtuosissimo too, but got a shock playing it on the main system earlier - high level or what? Attenuator ON....)
I'll scrutinise the Beethoven notes soon.... boxset arriving tonight!

There are nice pictures and full technical details for the pianos. Not sure to what editional question re. the 4th you refer, but all the notes say about the Concertos is: "Performance Materials from G Henle Verlag, Munich."

Just had the Berliner Philharmoniker email promoting their forthcoming Bruckner CD/Blu-ray multi-conductor set. Very poor promotional information. Nothing about the editions used, nor any indication of whether the 9th includes the SMPC completion (since its Rattle, it probably does).

I remember a truly dreadful Israel Phil 8th at the Proms. Hilariously, the security people had been sent to the arena in black tie....

Laborious for sure, but you can use the search box on the DCH website (Concerts (Archive) page) to find out some of this - Blomstedt's 3rd is 1873, P-Jarvi's 2nd is described as "2nd version of 1877" (begging a question or two...)...

Not sure I find too many of the conductors all that enticing though....

I didn't notice this on the list of new releases on Qobuz last week, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. The performances (and recording) are wonderful indeed.

Nice CD cover too. Just giving the 3rd Orchestral suite a spin. Very clean sound, and the silky smooth performance gives the music plenty of space.

The Decca/ Vienna Philharmonic Bruckner symphony cycle from the 1960s and 70s. Not exactly a new release, but the first time the set has been released as a 9 CD box set.

Six conductors: Abbasid, Böhm, Maazel, Mehta, Solti and Stein.
