Listen to unlimited or download Xenakis : Pléïades by DeciBells in Hi-Res quality on Qobuz. Subscription from £10.83/month.

    (One for the Barrett!)

Listen to unlimited or download Kyrill Kondrashin Edition (1937-1963) by Vitaly Gromadsky in Hi-Res quality on Qobuz. Subscription from £10.83/month.

....oh and, those new Brautigam Mendelssohn Piano Concertos on BIS (mentioned earlier here), greyed out for so long, are finally available to stream at 24/96...

The Xenakis is a must-listen, but I'm Luke warm at best about the rest.

I'm a bit pissed with Qobuz at the minute. They give Sublime members a hefty discount on the Hi-Res downloads. Why? My per annum purchases are around 4/5 times greater value than a yearly Sublime membership, yet there is no discount scheme for customers like me.

The Xenakis is very familiar to me, but straight into my Qobuz favourites for playing tomorrow went a disc of Sciarrino based around his La navigazione notturna for four pianos, which has to be worth listening to.

Er... I think you might need to....do the math.......

A Brahms Requiem on Period Instruments/reduced chorus is pretty rare though (IIRC there's just the JEG otherwise, though there are HIPP-style ones like the startlingly hi-speed Niquet)... or do you not take to the work? I'll report back on it soon...

(Anyway, heard that Frankfurt Nielsen yet? See Listening thread re. No.6...)...

What's your point about math, Jayne? Checking my order history, I have bought around 300 downloads from qobuz since 2017 (12 months), ranging from sets like the Boulez Sony Edition through DG, BIS etc, to the cheaper Naxos. I think it's reasonable to put an average download price of £9.50. £2,800 per annum. How much is a Sublime membership?

Update: Sublime is £249 per annum. I spend 5/6 times more, not 4/5 times more per annum than Sublime membership - but that wasn't what you meant, was it?

So, if there's a saving of £4 per download if you're a Sublime member, you would have saved £1200 on those 300 downloads - less the £249 membership fee, you would have saved over £900, if I've understood the system correctly?

Thanks ferney, that's made me feel a whole lot better!

Bryn pointed out the sensible way through this to me 18 months ago, but I did not take his advice.

I think I need to join Sublime or get responsible about my music spend in general terms.

So lucky Mrs Oven does not look on this forum.

(You're right though - these "pay upfront for your loyalty cards" are ... well, annoying!)

Math so American - don’t we usually say maths?

Call it what you want, Jayne - it won’t catch on with me - prefer ‘do the sums’

                          Don’t do ‘urban’ out west!

Financially? I thought fhg sorted it out with you already....(i.e., if you buy that many downloads and so frequently, subscribing to Qobuz Sublime+ is a no-brainer....)...

(And if you had it on Audirvana+....you'd have the Champagne de Selection of music services...)
