      Amadeus Quartet in Op 131 for me,considered old hat by many nowadays it seems.

      I think this is my favourite of all Beethoven's works.

          Getting back to the subject of this thread, the recording which has my main attention of late is that by Brooklyn Rider. Delightfully free of pancake vibrato, and with sweeping portamenti. Modern set-up for the instruments and modern bows. Would that there was a HIPP recording on this level.

          Here's a video clip made during their recording sessions for the "seven steps" CD which I recommend to those who dare. The resonance is that of the recording venue, as far as I am aware:

            I've always loved the 4th, but can't think that I've ever had a favourite recording of it. Is it like the Brahms 2, a work with lots of good ones?
