Ashkenazy’s self directed account with the Cleveland Orchestra is very good too as I reminded myself this morning.

I don’t really like fortepiano, but I have Immerseel (sp?) and it’s tolerable.

Far more than merely tolerable (!) Kristian Bezuidenhout with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado. Bezuidenhout plays a copy of a beautifully singing Graf instrument with superb articulation. The orchestra has all the heft, but with added precision that the music demands, by turn bullish, playful; sarcastic, joyous. Anyone who thinks they don't like the instruments for which Beethoven composed his music should hear this recording!

The Tan/Norrington fortepiano recording is enjoyable but not one I listen to very often.
