A mere three recordings of the Manfred in my collection. Oslo PO/Jansons and Russian NO/Pletnev (c 1994) are both convincing in their own ways but it'd be hard to beat Petrenko and the RLPO either for excitement or for beauty of sound. The disc also includes an excellent performance of the rarely-heard Voyevoda. And it's on Naxos! a top recommendation IMO.

I never heard the lp, though russian lps from the late 60s and early 70s were often dire sound-wise. The 1991 cd issue of the Svetlanov 1971 Manfred sounds pretty decent to my ears.
