    As a well-known HIPPster, I do think that Immerseel trumps Xavier Roth in this work.

      The was some historical colour added to this work in the interval discussion in tonight's concert.. As for the performance itself by BBCSO, the conductor stated an interest in a machine-like quality in the music.

        There is a marvellous crackly old LP version from Kletzki on You Tube. Received very good reviews in the 1950s but like of his now Warner output long since unavailable - once on a Mfp LP I think.

        It has those wonderful Philharmonia wind principals and Dennis Brain’s horn singing out splendidly with the piccolos and celesta.
