Six contenders are:-
a.Scotto/Domingo/Maazel....
b.de los Angeles/di Stefano/Gavazzini.....
c.Callas/Gedda/Leinsdorf....
d.Freni/Pavarotti/Karajan.....
e.Gheoghiu/Kaufmann/Pappano....
f.Callas/Gedda/Karajan....
Those that thought this programme was prejudiced against British works, look out for Elgar 'Enigma Variations' in two weeks!
Edit. I'm sure version c. is not Callas as printed....it's probably Anna Moffo as the sleeve shows.Last edited by Roger Webb; 02-06-24, 14:34.

If you go to the France Musique (from the Radio France site) website select 'Schedule' (with a right arrow) under the 'playing now' programme panel and then top right 'More' (may come up as 'Plus') the 'Grille de Programme' page comes up, scroll down to find 'La Tribune' at 16.00 (may show as 4pm), tap on it and the programme page comes up, scroll down to find the six contenders marked A to F. (An easier way might be to tap on my original post at #5 above and just scroll down to find A to F)
I've just checked and the display is just as it comes up at the beginning of the programme (nb. This info is not available until a couple of minutes into the programme).
Today's info was incorrect. When C started I knew that it wasn't Callas, but as it was Leinsdorf cond. it was obvious it must be Anna Moffo.

Rousseau's report on Madame Butterfly just posted:-
Les coquetteries d’Anna Moffo, le sens tragique d’Angela Gheorghiu : Thomas Dolié, Pauline Sommelet et Jean-Philippe Thiellay élisent la version de référence de Madame Butterfly de Giacomo Puccini.
My google translate has 'The pulp of Anna Moffo's tone does not erase her simpering'!
In future the programme pages of La Tribune will be posted on the general La Tribune: Un BaL Français thread. Look out for Schubert Piano Trio No.1.
