Yes, I've listened to the Trio Esprits since on Qobuz (24 bts 192k), and very much liked it...I now have it saved to my Qobuz library as an alternative to my CDs of Beaux Arts.

Here is this Sunday's Tribune, Elgar's 'Enigma Variations', should be a fascinating one!

Les outrances de Leonard Bernstein, la hauteur de vue de Paavo Järvi : Guillaume Connesson, Emmanuelle Giuliani et Anne Ibos-Augé élisent la version de référence des Variations Enigma d’Edward Elgar .

Thank you, Roger - love how the way they have spelt it "Enygma" on the voting entry form!

Very good Schumann trio from Trio Esprits. I haven't heard the Schubert.

Any thoughts on Sunday's La Tribune on 'Enigma'?

Two outliers on DG, Eugen Jochum and LSO, and Del Mar and RPO have impressed....along with the Boults and Barbirollis.

I'd forgotten about that recording (though it's in my collection on a DG Galleria CD, c/w all 5 P&C Marches): yes, impressive.

Yes, the DG Privilege Lp had a rather lovely hand-coloured pic of EE laying back in a chair, smoking a cigar and wearing a very fetching hat, but was also released on DG's Great Composer series and by Contour Classics - whatever happened to them?!

Maybe an attempt to show that the work is not limited to 'native' interpretations?

I'm sure Putin was beside himself when Previn's Rach sym 2 was chosen on BaL!

I won't log onto the page yet, as I want to hear all the programme in one and get the revelation at the end. I would have listened to it, but the glorious weather on the beach this afternoon was too hard to resist!
