Marvellous. I understand the received wisdom is Kertesz, but I have several others - LSO Live with Sir Colin, RLPO under Libor Pesek. I await with interest.

Contribution by proxy, I believe that this work is one of salymap's favourites and that her preferred performance is by the RLPO with Libor Pesek.

        I'd better have that right

Couldn't this be a Kubelik double-whammy after this week's Parsifal??

(I'd be quite happy with this as I have his DG performance, on LP and CD...)
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

              Philharmonia/Davis (A) and SNO/Jarvi in my collection.

I bought the Davis for the timpani playing which is outstanding. Not played these discs in years; a good choice for BaL.

The list seems rather short. I suspect I've missed a few. There's one with the Stockholm PO, but I don't know who's conducting it.

Dvorak is a composer I don't care for at all. One to miss for me.

                    I despair of you , @noggo.

Thanks for another terrific list, Eine Alpensinfonie.
I've got Ancerl, Kertesz, Kubelik, Mackerras, Rowicki, Sejna and Talich - it's a real favourite piece of mine, and I seem to hoard recordings... Still, I'm very happy with the ones I have.

This is a symphony I've not got at all (apart from a BBC MM CD) so I'd be in the market for a recommended version. Good to see that in Jan Smaczny they have the ideal reviewer for this music.

Agreed TS - I never thought Throppers would have a blind spot, a wonderful symphony IMHO - I have Sir Colin and return to it regularly. As a saddo with Terry Collier tendencies I am sure I shall have the winner downloaded by Christmas Day....
