Great value for £9.99 for two discs. Cheaper than Naxos!

It turns out I've got both Brahms' with Artur Schnabel so I thought I would give them a go starting with the 1st which I'm not completely happy with in terms of the state of wear of the discs. However I've come to really enjoy the performance and I hope some of you will too. The passion of the orchestral playing which gets us going sets up quite an expectation and to my mind Schnabel does not disappoint with his entry or, indeed, subsequently. He is particularly affecting in the slow movement with a lovely singing tone.
will take you to the Classical page, the Concerto is the last in the list.

Interested to read a dissenting opinion from Richard Osborne in his review in 2015 of Barenboim's new Brahms concerto recordings - that "the hard driven Award winning Freire/Chailly recordings seem to say less and less at each new hearing . That is pretty much my experience of them. I do not understand what all the fuss is about.

I was listening to the high res version of Gilels/Jochum today. An incredible sounding recording from the early seventiesLast edited by richardfinegold; 13-10-20, 10:06.

I think that you mean Jochum.
Nice one, though.
