    Sorry, no, my post was ambiguous... but I was referring to the Hamlet tam-tam strokes. On the subject of Manfred, though, I've recently downloaded the Petrenko RLPO, but not yet had a chance to listen to it. I've read plenty of enthusiastic reviews; how do people think it stacks up vis-a-vis the Jurowski?

      I know i'm as guikty as anyone here, but we are getting off topic by discussing Tchaikovsky symphony recordings on the Hamlet BaL thread. Someone might wish to start a Tchaikovsky symphonies thread?

          I've just listened to this broadcast again, and note that the reviewer actually conceded that he had certain prejudices, but Bernstein's conducting won him over nebertheless. However, i would probably go for the Pletnev following this BaL.
