I didn't listen to this BaL on the grounds that with 34 versions on my groaning shelves I hardly need another. However, Fischer's is one absentee so another one is called for! If one is counting the Abbado/Lucerne then thst's another one to my tally as I failed to include it. Likewise, Bernstein's DVD so I have 36. After his very fine Proms performance last year, I'm hoping that Chailly seizes the chance to have another go.
I was present at the 1983 Tennstedt Prom and will never forget it. Never likely to be a BaL recommendation, I suppose, but a searingly intense performance that doesn't deserve to be neglected."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

The actual nominated CD is, by rights, Ivan Fischer...a worthy modern Mahlerian you should investigate, BBM. Superb sonics and an enlightening ("clean") vision of the works.Don’t cry for me

Betting, not Mahler.
