Gosh, that's a relief, I seriously thought it was my hearing going! Enjoyed the programme otherwise.

But which of the Beaux Arts recordings was he (and are you) listening to?

He didn't say, which leads one to believe he didn't even know there was a choice. I suspect he meant the recording with Isidore Cohen, as re-issued on DG Originals, whereas I, and others on this forum it would seem, prefer the earlier one as currently available on a Philips Duo set, played by the original personnel, with Daniel Guilet on violin.

      Perhaps a little more homework?

I expected to be annoyed by his word swallowing, which has been terrible in the past, but although we listened to the programme in the car it didn't seem so bad today, and I don't recall missing anything. I think it is probably at its worst when he introduces single items, when it is always the inaudible final ' here played by ............' which leaves you shouting at the set.

Speaking of presenters with the habit of dropping volume on the final phrase, what about Andrew McGregor? I often lose performers' names. A second problem I have with his presentations is that his ideas tumble out far too quickly for my brain to process, requiring a rewind of the iPlayer. But perhaps I am the only one with these difficulties with the otherwise excellent McGregor.…
