He only ever posted twice on this forum and then quickly disappeared. As far as I know, other posters treated him with great respect, so there must be another reason.

KCII was much involved with recorded music societies in Devon, Torbay for one. He founded the Torbay Music Weekend in 1970 and was listed online last year as the (active!) Hon President of the Osmington (Dorset?) RMS, still visiting Lahti for Sibelius congressesI keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Oh dear, I do like Sibelius 2 but am thinking do I really need multiple copies - but then, how do I choose which of my live Vanska or Oramo or Davis recordings to dispose of? And whilst Kajanus or Toscanini are interesting, do I really need it on the overfull library shelves? Have to have Collins as that`s part of a cycle, but then so are Davis (RCA or LSO live)....sometimes this collecting mania is too fraught..

I haven't heard BAl yet, I'll have to use iPlayer, but I did hear the chosen version this morning on Essential Classics. I suspect that the reviewer has not lived many years with this music. The Colin Davis live version is fine if you like a version with vocal accompaniment, but as a performance it seems oddly lifeless, not in the same league as his Boston recording for example.
I have twenty eight versions in my collection, and would certainly prefer Monteux, Koussevitsky, Kajanus,Szell , Barbirolli or Beecham. Kletzki is fine as well, and I would not want to omit Bernstein, his bargain box is very interesting.
I suspect that the lady had her nose in the score, nothing wrong with that, but what lies behind the notes in her recommended performance?
