Not much to choose from then!

I've recently rediscovered my vinyl collection, and by chance listened to Ansermet and L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande - wonderful.

There's also Minneapolis/Dorati in the Mercury big box.

Thanks. I've added this. In my haste this morning, I only noticed one version in the Mercury box.

The DG Giulini is very good but I was blown away by the Muti , not a conductor for whom I have a particular penchant.

no available recording of the Henry Wood version then (which impressed me at the 2010 proms I seem to remember)
I've just remembered what impressed me - the scrap metal department
**WARNING** this recording STARTS VERY, VERY QUIETLY but then is interrupted by a fortissimo orchestral tutti at 0:57 - do not turn up the volume!BBC Nationa...

I believe the LPO/Braithwaite recording on Lyrita is of the Henry Wood version.

Yes. I've checked this out and have amended the list.

I have Chicago, Giulini (DG) and Philadelphia, Ormandy (RCA) - not sure if the Giulini is the one Barbirollians refers to above, but I like it a lot: characterful, virtuosic playing, maybe lacking an ounce of visceral excitement but very satisfying. Presumably nla, as it doesn't appear on EA's list?

I thought I heard A McG refer this morning to next week's BaL as only covering the Ravel orchestration.

Silvestri in Bournemouth used to walk on, taking the applause, and stride up to the rostrum and start the trumpet before he had stopped moving! Then would follow an amazingly colourful performance of the rest, ending with a tremendous din in The Great gate of Kiev that is still circulating in outer space somewhere!

Unfortunately he did not record it. Wonder if BBC Legends has anything up its sleeve?

Never make that assumption. I compile the lists as quickly as possible on Friday mornings before leaving for work...

So there are likely to be some omissions and errors.

Isn't the Elgar Howarth transcription for brass ensemble available?
