Strange. Presto claims only Symphonies 3 to 8, plus Mass #3 and the Te Deum, yet the box cover has "Symphonies 3 -9", plus the choral items.

Like Barbirollians, my copy of the Giulini arrived yesterday (Testament's mail order is commendably efficient). I entirely echo what B has said - I have been so captivated by it that I have sat down and listened to the whole symphony (when I should have been doing some work). I'm still not 100% convinced by Nowak but this performance (along with that of Jaap van Zweden in the Proms) makes the best possible case for it.Comment

Just listened to the Celi/Munich live performance from Tokyo in 1990.
It's quite supurb and is now my favourite Bruckner 8 (of 30-something). I reckon it has the edge over the EMI recording (1993), partly because, although it's also fairly slow, it's within the bounds of normality.
Timings in 1986 are 19.27/16.44/31.28/29.22 compared to 1993 timings of 20.56/16.05/35.04/32.08.Comment
