Cheaper elsewhere though, so just ordered.
    Ha, I guessed as much

Damn, nothing for us this month. But well done on your haul, spend it wisely.
Could have done with a windfall, after insurance, MOT and service, and washing machine packing up on Monday. Not all on Monday. Just the twin tub failure.

    Currently streaming the Ehnes/ BBCSO

Nice of DON just now to respond to a listener's question on Twitter, but really: What's a tutti?

      Enjoying it so far.

Why can’t pianists sing in tune ?

I think his evident enthusiasm gets in the way.

He’s certainly drilling down into the detail. After much talk of bar lines now ticking off Jurowski for changing a bass note. It’s all very entertaining.

Forgotten how good Nige was in this .I only had it on cassette and have not listened to it in an age.

I can manage ‘tutti’ well enough, but can someone here explain DON’s obsession with bar lines?

I was thinking that - there are such things as beats within bars. I think he has a problem with exaggerated beats at the beginning of a bar. It’s all about context - ok in a Chopin waltz but not a nocturne. I think pianists tend to obsess over them a bit.

It's a shame that he doesn't follow Walton's speed directions at the end, though!

Enjoyable stuff and I want both to acquire the winner and revisit a work which has not featured in my listening for a long while.

Bought the Power when it came out and have always been impressed by it as with all his records to be honest .

I'm tempted to wonder what poor old Walton had done to deserve DON at his most, err, "DON-ish". One person's entertainment is for we DON-phobes more of an irritation. Bring back Tom Service! But at least his final choice(s) were well made.
