Looking at your Presto thread - the Daniel Hope complete Warner download looks reasonable value!

Comments still apply. Boise Trio on Saga, which cost me 12/6 in old money, as I remember, was a favourite disc at the time, when I didn't own that many. Found the cover at Discogs.

Indeed, gurnemanz, that Saga recording deserves the status of classic; many people came to love the work that way. Nice sleeve too.

Well that's embarrassing- actually I own the Florestan. I have no memory of the work better refresh my memory of it.

Yes, I also was one who discovered all those pieces through that cheap LP. I found the Ravel on Qobuz and enjoyed making its reacquaintance!

Was it Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon, Frank Braley? Or were they later than that?

Not available on Spotify - but is (I read) available on Apple Music. Why do Hyperion favour one streaming service over another? They should at least make extended highlights available on Spotify... which should show them at their best compared to others... For instance, Penguin say the Capucons are a little overpowering in the louder passages. So why don't Hyperion release the Florestans playing the movements in which these particular passages appear? If I had a chance to hear them, and find them superior to the Capucons, and am "blown away" (as I should be by a best performance...) then I'd be dashing to buy the CD.

You're forgiven. I've been scanning my Debussy and Faure sections to see if I have it... who else does he appear with? Penguin tells me Chausson... nope nothing there... Schmitt... nope R comes before S.... Another advantage of the Capucon performance is it comes on an all Ravel disk!

I'd be interested to hear from Apple Music users (I'm not). In the past some Hyperion recordings have appeared on streaming services I used, but they were few, and IIRC, didn't last - I presume they can request they be taken down. I respect their decision, and sample the tracks on their website and decide whether to buy a download or less often a CD, and use their offer of adding credit to my account to give a discount on the cost:

(the prepay credit link is on the very bottom of their home page).

.....and just to say in relation to this wording: "over £25 in a single order for 10% discount" - the discount is applied when the credit is bought - after that there is no order value be achieved, you are free to spend the credit on the account in any amount, smaller/greater. (The discount percentage is higher for greater pre-payments). When it comes to the issue of a trader holding my money in their account, I feel better it being Hyperion - a considerable force for good in the classical music world, than I do when it is, for example, my energy supplier.

Yes, as the link shows, the Capuçons/Braley was Harriet Smith's first choice in December 09.

Previously, William Mival chose Ashkenazy/Perlman/Harrell in October 96.

Although I preferred several others, from the clips played, I was going to listen to the Florestan performance on Sunday, thinking it was at least a chance to hear it in full. And then Andrew said they weren't playing it, and gave a very dubious reason for not doing so! I suspect some behind the scenes goings on... I'm off to listen one of my preferred, in full, on Spotify, instead! The four candidates are all available in full.

Spotify and Amazon Music have one Florestan CD, "Florestan trio live". (It doesn't have the Ravel...)
