The Britten recording even though extracted from the complete opera is outstanding and pretty much unsurpassable IMO.

Looks like only five recordings (surely there are some videos of opera productions too?):
Britten
Britten (Aldeburgh premiere, on Testament)
Colin Davis
Hickox
Volkov

There is also a DVD recording of a production from Barcelona conducted by Harry Bickett with David Daniels, but I don’t recall having seen this one. That appears to be it for filmed productions."I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."
