The Britten recording even though extracted from the complete opera is outstanding and pretty much unsurpassable IMO.

If you mean the Sea Interludes I agree wholeheartedly.

Looks like only five recordings (surely there are some videos of opera productions too?):
        Britten
        Britten (Aldeburgh premiere, on Testament)
        Colin Davis
        Hickox
        Volkov

The Volkov is on sale at the Glyndebourne shop for £5 (p&p is 3.95, so better find a few other bargains to make it worthwhile!)

The DVD of the Peter Hall production at Glyndebourne, conducted by Haitink and with James Bowman and Ileana Cotrubas, is wonderful, although sadly appears to be NLA.

There is also a DVD recording of a production from Barcelona conducted by Harry Bickett with David Daniels, but I don’t recall having seen this one. That appears to be it for filmed productions.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."
