I love these, when David Owen Norris is the critic. But I have to say though, I don’t remember Piers Lane (preludes, Hyperion/Helios) or Marc-André Hamlin (Sonatas, Hyperion) being mentioned, at all!

He was on particularly irritating form. He's not a Russian music expert. The choices were completely lame. They mixed up Horowitz recordings. Sounds like the previous BaL on Scriabin was much more thorough and recommended some good choices. Missing out Yevgeny Sudbin's BIS disk, Richter (anything), Gilels (anything) , Zhukov (everything) , Ogdon's sonatas, Peter Donohoe's sonatas inexplicable. There's a superb release from Gavrilov on EMI. Correction, there was in LP days. This looks a good set https://play.qobuz.com/album/5099990724152 though the Ogdon contribution is very mixed.Comment
