I was referring to the fact that BBM has raised its omission from the shortlist three times, I think. I, too, originally got it on LP, and then in its "Ovation" CD transfer. (where the Prokofiev Concertos were the other works). The field for this BaL was very large and not all worthy recorded performances could make the shortlist. That's all.

It got somewhere surely? IIRC it got an honourable mention as good in its time and still worth hearing, but since bettered (in reviewer's opinion of course).
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

I am a firm and committed fan of the physical product, but my wife who, unlike me, has joined the 21st century, has always wanted to be able stream music. So I bought her a Naim Muso Qb for her recent birthday, only to promptly stream the Mullova recording myself, which is unavailable in the physical format at present and currently too expensive second hand on the market place. I have the Chung recording and it is the favourite of my two versions - I also have the Zimmerman, but have never liked it. However, I really enjoyed the Mullova, I thought her playing was full of characterful and was a thoroughly enjoyable listen. No complaints about it being given the winner's laurel.

Good musician with a certain rhyme to her name!

I was listening to Viktoria Mullova
Being chilly I was wearing a pullover
              But her sweet violin sound
              Meant I very soon found
That the music was just right to lull over.

Thanks Bryn. I was aware that copies of the three disc set are available. But, apart from the fact that I already have the Sibelius and Tchaikovsky recordings, as far as I can tell the copies that are on offer all originate from outside the UK. Since Brexit I have eschewed ordering from Europe as issues are now sadly more frequent. This is a shame since Momox in particular are an excellent supplier. I have always avoided Japan and the USA over concerns about reliability, both of the product and whether or not it will actually turn up. When a copy turns up from a UK seller at a sensible price, I will indulge. But many thanks anyway.

If it’s any help, I believe that items to be delivered from Amazon EU include all customs and other charges, so there should at least be no hidden charges. I have had a few orders from them since Brexit, and all have been delivered promptly at no extra cost.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

... yes, I have had no problems with various amazon orders coming in from Germany, Italy, and France over the last four months

                      .
Ok. Maybe I will give it another go. I have to say, without going into details, that I have had problems of late with cds sourced from Europe. Interestingly, mostly from sources based in Switzerland, which isn't in the EU of course, although I appreciate that a postal address is no guarentee that that is where the business operates from. But I am encouraged by other message boarders' experiences; it would be a shame if this anvenue of hard to source recordings was closed off, or was to become unviable, because of Brexit. As I said there are a couple of European suppliers that I have a lot of confidence in. Thank you both for your reassurring comments.

The engineering places her a little too far forward for my liking but both Frang's and the other musicians' contributions make this a performance well worth hearing if you have, or initiate, a Medici tv subscription. The final movent is as headlong as the first. The aac audio from the stream has been converted to m4a, copied to a USB memory stick, for playback.

Her new recording with Kuusisto is a stunner.

Absolutely, as is the Beethoven concerto it’s coupled with. We’ve just booked tickets to hear her at the Barbican in February where she’ll play DSCH No.1 with the LSO.

Indeed. I headed to QOBUZ as soon as I learned of its release.

Totally agree and Kuusisto’s conducting is also in the highest class . The Beethoven concerto is right at the top of the tree of performances in my opinion.

I was due to see her play the Elgar again with the CBSO and MGT this spring but was foiled by snow. Its an outstanding interpretation and I would love for them to record it together.
