Is the recommended recording available in the UK? I looked for the label (Indésens) on Presto and it was not there - just one download that was nothing to do with Ravel or any of the artists involved! Surely reviewers and programme producers should do their homework before recommending a recording? This is a complaint I have made before and will continue to do until it is addressed by R3 producers and executives.

The recommended recording is certainly very fine -- beautifully played & recorded -- on the cool side in comparison to earlier classics such as Melos, though more polished in execution. Jeremy Sams clearly thought Nicanor Zabaleta too soloistical & OTT, but for me Marie-Pierre Langlamet on the Jardin Feerique CD is rather too reticent in climactic moments. Osian Ellis strikes the right balance in a piece where all the players are primus inter pares in turn, as it were.
