Barbs, what did you think of Lisette Oropesa in last Sat's Opera on 3 relay ? Though Traviata is quite some way from being my favourite Verdi, both Mrs M & I were knocked out by her singing, reminiscent of an earlier generation of sopranos whose vibrato sounded perfectly natural within the voice, if that makes sense ? ( surprised not to see any comments on "A Night at the Opera" thread )
Didn’t hear it but do have her recording of Traviata - agree she is outstanding. Not quite so sure about the conducting and rest of the cast.
