Didn't even tune in this morning, and described myself to them as now an ex listener whenever the format is a discussion rather than an expert presentation.

I was amused to see that this discussion is still going on. It was the 'chat show' formula which led me to becoming an ex-listener several years ago. I don't miss it; there are so many other things to do on Saturday mornings. BAL reached its peak with some of the scripted reviews by people like Nicholas Anderson. How can the BBC even consider replacing such well-considered and beautifully constructed reviews with this chit-chat? Fortunately I still have some cassette recordings of some reviews of my favourite works.
