William Mival seems to like going for old classics in his BALs - Kempe here , Previn in Rachmaninov 2 and did he not dismiss some of the recent highly rated recordings when he did that Schumann BAL ?

Yes, I enjoyed the bulk of the discussion (once the annoying waffle about the title was out of the way). A peculiar conclusion: Karajan, lavishly illustrated (with three different recordings) and appreciated wasn't in his "final three", whilst Fischer (mentioned only once IIRC in the discussion) did. Ah, well - no worries for me, and the Zinman and Szell recordings have gone on my wishlist.

I don't think so, cloughie. The Clemens Krauss did, and with a superb illustration of Willi Boskovsky's remarkable violin playing.
