Just to answer this: there are two, one recorded in 1972/3 and the other in 1986. As mentioned by BeefO in #8, Karajan also recorded it with the Philharmonia in 1951.There is, in addition, a Decca recording from 1960 with the VPO. By HvK standards then, not as often as one might have expected.

It might be worth trying other European Amazon sites. amazon.de has it, but only for delivery within Germany. There's one on amazon.com. but that might catch import duty.

I'm not sure quite how fanciful William Myval's interpretation of the music actually was (purists may throw their hands up in horror at some of the rhetorical licence) but it made for a highly enjoyable programme - and a decent spread of illustrations from most of the usual suspects.

Yes, I enjoyed the bulk of the discussion (once the annoying waffle about the title was out of the way). A peculiar conclusion: Karajan, lavishly illustrated (with three different recordings) and appreciated wasn't in his "final three", whilst Fischer (mentioned only once IIRC in the discussion) did. Ah, well - no worries for me, and the Zinman and Szell recordings have gone on my wishlist.
