Of course, 78s only became 78s after the introduction of EPs and LPs. Up to that time, they were … records.

Anything that is 'recorded' by whatever means, becomes a 'record' in standard English, though in the context of audio it is usually helpful these days to specify the kind of record. A 'download' merely describes the method of accessing the record.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I have found the 1930s Fritz Busch Glyndebourne recording to be a revelation - even the overture sends chills down your spine in a way no other recording does for me.

I've watched three streamed Giovannis over lockdown.

A good but not world-shattering Met version on their daily stream.

A vibrantly updated and physical staging on YouTube, a strong cast with Jérémie Rhorer and the period instrument ensemble Le Cercle de l'Harmonie from the Aix-en Provence Festival. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnd5ULYG2no

A riveting live socially distanced version from an empty Stockholm theatre. Conducted by Daniel Harding with Peter Mattei as Don G. Andrew Staples both directs and plays Ottavio. https://www.berwaldhallen.se/en/play...on-giovanni-2/

Thanks for that. The Swedish one is, fortunately, in mp4 HLS streaming, so easily saved via Video DownloadHelper. Mind you, the resulting file is around 5.15 GB, so too big for burning to a DVD or saving to a FAT 32 format USB stick. Audio is a health 256kbps AAC-LC, a mere 320 KB. Oh, and English sub-titles, too.

I’ve bought it at last. Wonderful to be able to see the great man in my living room, and the entire film in colour with good sound.
