Well, no rush to add new versions chez LMP since I have both the Rostropovich CDs and the Jansons DVD. Really didn't like the latter when I got it so I'd better give it another spin...

Only snag is, I'll have to wait till the rest of the family go out for a few hours: in this case they do not share my artistic tastes
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

My 16 year old daughter marched in and turned the radio off, announcing that this was not music for early on Saturday morning …

Hmm verismissimo, are you quite sure you haven't borrowed my 16-yr old daughter?

        Haven't seen her today...

CLANG!!! Just found the DVD and it's not Jansons, it's this one. Some decent reviews but NLA.

What an opera this is! I was really bowled over by it. This is one of those works that you keep on meaning to listen to, but never gertting round to, for reason or another?

My thoughts exactly, it was the piece that really struck me at the recent opera exhibition at the V&A but I hadn't got round to buying a copy, it's on order now.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
