My most recent purchase is the SONY Salonen Stravinsky box - all seven discs for less than the shop price of a single full-price CD, and a superb overview of the composer - but my shelves have many such boxes.

More frustrating are big boxes like the Tafelmusik collection Bryn links to: I already have the Haydn and Mozart discs (on a couple of those SONY composer boxes, as it happens!) - do I invest in the megabox, and pass on the discs I have to charity shops? (But then, I'll have to rearrange the shelving & storage .... )
I got the 47 disc box from amazon.de back in December 2015 when it cost just £30.73 including p&p. It's gone up a little since then.

I don't think Tafelmusik have recorded Op. 6, though their Op. 3 is pretty good.

        There's a Hogwood Op. 6 on a double decca:

The re-masterings be worth it then?

You do not always get re-masterings, by any means. All too often 1980s transfers get churned out again in 'new' multi-disc boxed sets. That said, the pro-rata cost of the discs is often just too tempting.

                Exactly so.

It's an American period instrument band with which Hogwood worked on a number of projects. They appear on the Op.3 set of the big Handel box we are talking about, which is why I found it so odd that their recordings of Op.6 were not included in it .

Is this BAL the same day as the Royal Wedding? If so, will all dedicated Forumites be conflicted?

Very true. Me and MrsBBM will be watching! I think this Royal House aren't doing a too bad a job.

There'll be endless repeats and mega-gushing over the wedding, but BaL is unique.

But Jolly Roger Norrington hasn’t recorded them!

Just started. Splendid sound of horns from a splendidly named ensemble German Natural Horn Players.

Agreed, but why use an organ rather than an orchestra?
