And it varies a great deal :). Christie and Parrott's recordings are a 1 CD selection.

Ensemble Elyma, Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc, Gabriel Garrido is also available (that contains other - according to Garrido - related works & runs to 4 CDs).

Looking forward to this. I have some of Parrott; (all of) La Venexiana, Claudio Cavina; Akadêmia, Françoise Lasserre; and Cantus Cölln so I can do my own pre-BAL!

I did the list in a bit of a hurry this morning before going to work. As I'm so I going away for the weekens, I shall be unable to make any amendments for 2 or 3 days, but someone "in the know" may like to do an update. It would be appreciated.

I believe there are recordings from the Parley of Instruments and Singers as well as Anthony Rooley.

Consultation of the review in Gramophone informs me that the La Venexiana "complete" version has some omissions and is not as complete as that by Junghanel.

I have the Junghanel, which I think is complete - clear and accurate, but rather cool if I remember rightly. I also have on my shelves excerpts recorded by the Stuttgart Chamber Choir/Bernius in the early 1980s (soloists include Emma Kirkby and John Elwes) - haven't listened to this for many years, so can't comment on the performance, must give it a spin. Suspect it is probably unavailable by now, anyway.

I have that marvellous collection by Andrew Parrott, in that boxed set that was issued.

I've only some bits and pieces from Selva morale e spirituale, but of these, I have much enjoyed listening again to Emma Kirkby, Ian Partridge and David Thomas with the Parley of Instruments under Roy Goodman and Peter Holman, recorded by Hyperion on a 1981 LP.

An interesting program. I have the 4 discs from Robert King and Kings Consort and have the Taverner Consort actually my first Monteverdi. I will be interested to hear the new Sixteen CD the first of a series from that group.

After the programme, I learnt even more about the music. I am quite a fan of The Sixteen/Harry Christophers, and so will n no doubt be buying their recording! Watch this space!

Brassbandmaestro, I ordered a copy of the Sixteen directly after BAL on Saturday and it arrived today. I am very happy, this is an excellent recording, the recording of the Gloria a 7 is stunning. As this is volume 1, I can now anticipate the future Volumes of Selve morale e spirituale to come.
