What an excellent programme, one the best in ages and a superb left field choice.

- A variety of recordings chosen for review, plenty of substantial excerpts, and no cheap shots at performances she wasn't so keen on. The 45minutes swept by leaving me wishing she'd had another half-hour to carry on talking. I was instantly captivated by the chosen recommendation, too - and delighted to be reminded of the composer's own recording after far too long a gap since I last heard it.

Bryn: where did you order it from? The Riverpeople seem to have only the Frankfurt RSO version listed by AE.

Try ASIN: B00JU5DH4C at amazon.co.uk. Unfortunately the marketplace prices for new copies have risen quickly since this morning. I missed out on the £8 range one but got it for £14.03 including p&p. It can also be downloaded from QOBUZ, etc.

I missed a few bits, moving from room to room (and heard some bits twice; curious delay between DAB and Sonos!), but particularly liked the praise given to the Weissenberg's dance-like qualities, which might have been part of its original appeal to me.

I would hope so, as that is my favourite. My Krainev/Kitaienko set went to the charity shop ages ago.

Briefly, in a list of several players who did something in a certain way - (not derogatorilly, I should add) so briefly, in fact that I missed exactly what!
Berfof and Masur - a superb set IMVHO

Another fine set... the PNRSO and Antoni Wit have produced some real gems for Naxos. Sadly, all too often passed over.

So it's Krainev and Kitaenko's earlier Moscow recording that 'won'. Strange that their later Frankfurt recording (the only one listed in the OP) was not even considered. Ah, well, I've ordered the recommended one (along with the other 4 concertos) to add to my two copies of the later one.

Never heard of this artist before. Saw this recording on Spotify, so will play tomorrow.

From the 4 Argerich recordings, SHE preferred the live Dutoit version.

I was quite disappointed she barely mentioned it but I think it'll always be my favourite. However, I did order the 'winner' since I heard so many orchestral details I've not noticed before.

Re. Argerich, the recommended Lugano recording with Dutoit is pretty low cost, pro rata, in the Lugano Concetos 4 disc package.
