I think Parrott has 'won' the last time or two this work came up for review.

However, I vividly remember a previous occasion this was covered on BaL - a classic case of preferring a runner-up to the 'winner'. I didn't like the Archiv JEG version, but loved the Leonhardt performance.



It remains my favourite.

Can't see it in the list in ##1&2 though - and indeed it seems to have very limited or no availability - scandalous.

anyway, the Hengelbrock/ Freiburg BO isn't too shabby at all, IMO.

Agree about Hengelbrock. It's on the Deutsche Harmonia Mundi 50 Box. This might have been what Ferney was thinking of here.

Yes, its in the DHM 50th anniversary box, not the 50 CD collection.

Its also in Sony Baroque Masterpieces box, which is pretty miss and hit, but has some good things if you can pick it up cheaply, which at the moment you can't.

Hit and miss indeed. Far too many 'highlights' discs, but also some buried treasure.

"20"? 10 when I look at the photo (3 each for St Matt & Christmas and 2 each for Bmin & St John). Three discs for the Christmas Oratorio???!!!
