Well…
I thought I’d list my versions of the RVW London Symphony. I was shocked. The only (yes, only) obvious omissions are the Norrington and Rosdhesvensky. Two Boults, Barbirollis, Previns and Handleys, and single versions by Godfrey, Wood, Goossens, Arwel Hughes, Haitink, Thomson, Hickox, Slatkin, Baakels, Elder, Yates, Manze. That’s 20 versions.
Must go to the post office because my new anorak’s just arrived.

I've just ordered 3 more Sea Symphonies.

One of the things that puts me off the Boult stereo recording is how much he shaves off the sublime Lento, down from 11'02 in 1952 to 9'35. I wonder why? His rather quick interpretation of the slow movement in Elgar's First also rather puts me off that.
I did just listen to the Beulah release of Boult's excellent mono recording - it does sound rather better than the release I have...
