The Angeles set has served me very well and over the years I have not felt the urgent need to get other versions. However, I think they are only available as a box, which may count against them as a BaL recommendation.

A near perfect combo of specifics and overview, facts and feelings.
Rarely has a winner been so well argued.
Maybe not the easiest voice on the ear to but that simplify invites another listen.

Don't get me wrong though - sensible and thorough. And I think I need to get serious about Haydn quartets. I only have three Kodaly Quartet CDs (not including Op 77 which I didn't know at all)."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I saw the Quatuor Mosaïques box set available on Amazon for £18 in 2013 and ummed and ahhed, then the price went up to £50 - it's currently £33.
